Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
Reflection
Standard three is concerned with the instructor using technology in ways that the instructor expects students to become proficient. Teaching student proficiency is also part of this standard. The instructor should model those skills which are expected of students. This assists this student in two ways. On one hand, the student becomes proficient as a consequence of exposure and learning of the new media. On the other, the student sees the importance and relevance to their own lives because a professional is seen modeling how the technology is integrated into a real-world profession. The building and maintenance of the course website is a good example of this standard in practice. The site itself allows the teacher to collaborate with various stakeholders. It allows for communication between each. And, the current knowledge of technology systems is displayed to the student by the teacher. The Google Tools that I created such as the homework sheet and the survey are another way involved parties can collaborate, communicate and see technology in action. The Google Doc is an excellent resource to keep parents informed, and the survey not only collects valuable data for the instructor; it also exposes the students to a new tool they will probably encounter again and again. My lesson plan is also an example of how I model and facilitate the use of current tools and technology.

Future Learning Goals
While I feel that I am current on emerging technologies, this standard has helped me realize that I do not do enough to show my students how I use technology in the real world. I would like to spend more time exposing them to how I use technology so they can see how it applies to their own lives. This will help them see it as an important factor that they should also spend time learning to use. It reminds me of the push many years ago for teachers to engage in silent reading when she had students doing the same. This was supposed to show the students that it was not just another assignment, but something that all professions were required to be able to do. Technology should be regarded in the same light.
