Standard I
Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
Reflection
This standard requires teachers to foster a sense of creativity and lifelong learning in students. The requirements of thinking about real world issues in a creative way means that our students will be ready to tackle the college or career world when they graduate from high school. This standard also promotes collaboration with others which is essential for preparing our learners for the real world. There is nothing they will do in isolation once they begin a career. The blog that I created shows how I meet this standard as a teacher, but also as a learner. In my blog, I communicated and reflected on all of my projects with other students. We collaborated and worked as we will ask our own students to work together. The Google Drive documents that I created show how I expect my students to collaborate with each other and also use collaborative tools to get a job done together. The Google Drive projects ask students to participate in the real-life scenario of working together from a distance. This is something that will become more commonplace as technology advances.

Future Learning Goals
In the future, I wish to learn how I can incorporate this type of learning into my day to day instructional activities. I have been somewhat hesitant to try to use online tools with my students because I worried that the concept was still too foreign. However, using the tools in this class, I have become more familiar with them. I feel that I could also set a goal to teach my fellow colleagues how these tools could be used in their own instructional activities. They may also be hesitant about this concept, but I now have this blog and my created website to show them how it can be done.
- Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness.
- Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources.
- Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes.
- Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments.
